Initial Thoughts
Sometimes we smoke value-priced cigars. Sometimes, we swing to the other end of the spectrum and smoke high-dollar sticks like this Cohiba Weller by Cohiba.
The Weller by Cohiba is a collaboration between two premium companies: Cohiba for the cigar, and Weller for the bourbon. If you age some of the Cohiba tobacco in an American Oak barrel that was used to age some Weller bourbon, you have the Weller by Cohiba.
Each Weller by Cohiba is a robusto that comes in a black, metal tube. Once removed, however, the cigar itself is a light-medium brown in color, and the one I reviewed was a little crooked. Visually, the cigar I reviewed did not look like a $25 cigar.
TIP: Keep the tube to protect your cigars when traveling.
After cutting the end and bypassing the wonky-looking cap, the cold draw had the right amount of resistance. Regarding the flavors on the first few puffs, they were mild and smokey, but very smooth.
For the record, the part of the Weller by Cohiba that Cohiba aged in Weller’s bourbon barrels was the United States Connecticut Broadleaf that was used in the binder.
Is the Cohiba Weller by Cohiba worth $24.99? Let’s find out!

Final Thoughts
The Weller by Cohiba Robusto Tubo is a good cigar. I liked it and enjoyed the 70 minutes I spent smoking it. I just didn’t know if it was worth $24.99.
Regarding the flavors, the Weller by Cohiba was surprisingly smooth. There was no bitterness and no harshness, nor was there any of that “charred” flavor that often comes with cigars that have been aged in bourbon barrels.
Overall, I enjoyed this cigar a good bit. The construction was almost perfect, and the flavors were good. If you’re looking for a new cigar that’s been aged in a bourbon barrel, give this one a shot. Cohiba’s Weller by Cohiba earns a CigarScore 5.
