Description

Once lit, the Crowned Heads La Carema Robusto has an absolutely wonderful aroma. The flavors are sweet and musty and have an aroma that was similar to that of pipe tobacco. After a few puffs, I expected that the sourness I tasted previously wasn't sour at all, but a byproduct of being a super-strong and high nicotine cigar.

Today we continue our series of blind cigar reviews, where our goal is to provide you with a totally objective, completely neutral review of a cigar. Ellory went into this review completely blind; that means without knowing what it is, who made it, how much it costs, or what’s in it. To see the entire series of blind cigar reviews, click here.

Right out of the gate, the Crowned Heads La Carema Robusto has a great aroma. The cigar’s smell was quite wonderful. It also had a somewhat rustic look to it.

Upon closer examination, there are a few flaws in the wrapper, but they’re minor. Also, the wrapper leaf has tons of tooth to it and hopefully contains plenty of rich flavors.

After cutting the end cap with my guillotine, the tobacco inside the smoking end looked very dense, but the draw was okay. The cold draw flavors were a little sour and woody.

Through the first third of the La Carema robusto, there was a fairly uneven burn.

    Final Thoughts

Yes, this cigar had some burn issues and some extra moisture in one of the wrapper stems, but I found myself really enjoying the Crowned Heads La Carema Robusto. The aroma of the smoke was fantastic and the flavors were good.

However, the burn issues were there and I had to re-torch the wrapper to even things up at least once. So, the Crowned Heads La Carema Robusto earns a CigarScore 4.
