The Drew Estate Liga Privada H99 is one of our favorite blends in the Liga Privada line. The Connecticut corojo wrapper leaf is both spicy and sweet, and complex. The Mexican San Andres binder brings added flavor, but doesn't overwhelm.

    Initial Thoughts
After a long day of editing cigar reviews and unboxing videos, I decided to treat myself with the Drew Estate Liga Privada H99 Papas Fritas.

While I’ve had the H99 Papas Fritas before, I’ve never reviewed it. And, if you’re looking for a similar cigar that’s a little bit spicier, check out the Foundation Tabernacle Havana Seed Corona.

The Liga Privada H99 is probably my favorite of the entire Liga Privada line from Drew Estate. For the uninitiated, the “Papas Fritas” vitolas use the shavings of their larger counterparts. So, the Liga Privada H99 Papas Fritas uses the leftovers and shavings from the Liga Privada H99 robustos and toros.

On the cold draw, the Liga Privada H99 had cedar flavors. Once lit, the flavors were creamy, spicy and woody, and the United States Connecticut Corojo wrapper was in full form.

    Final Thoughts
The Liga Privada H99 is one of my favorite blends, and this Papas Fritas vitola does nothing to discourage that sentiment. The construction was about perfect, the flavors… also about perfect. The Connecticut Corojo wrapper is mildly spicy, and the Mexican binder brings a nice sweetness to this cigar. The end result is a complex blend I quite enjoy.

While these are a tad expensive for a smoke time of 45 minutes, there deliciousness makes up for it. Plus, the shorter smoke time is likely due to the mixed short and long filler tobacco and I suspect shorter leaves burn faster than longer ones. The Drew Estate Liga Privada H99 Papas Fritas is one I love and earns a CigarScore 5.
