Description
Let us introduce you to one of our favorite cigars, the Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust Sobremesa Brulee. Sobremesa, roughly translated as “over the table”, is a word used in Latin culture to describe the leisurely time spent tableside after you have finished dining, but before you rise. It is the experience of lingering casually with family and friends in conversation, relaxing, drinking, smoking, and enjoying each other’s company.
The Brûlée is a variation of the core Sobremesa liga in which the Pennsylvania Seedleaf ligero has been removed, the Condega Seco has been increased and the Capa is now a top shelf grade of Ecuador Connecticut Shade. The result is a milder, even smoother adaptation of the Sobremesa blend that continues to retain its wonderfully complex flavors and aromas.

Initial Thoughts: I’ve had an interesting experience with Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust’s cigars. While I’ve found them generally good, I’ve also found them unnecessarily expensive.
However, over the past few months, I’ve had several friends recommend that I give the Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust Sobremesa Brulee a try. And, given my new found love of lighter cigars, I thought I’d smoke the Brulee today.
The Sobremesa Brulee toro is an interesting cigar. It’s got an oddly smooth but textured wrapper, that looks like it has tiny crystals on it. After torching the end and cutting the tip, I can immediately taste very sweet flavors that lead me to think this cigar has a sugar tip on it. We’ll research that =) First impressions are flavorful ones!

Final Thoughts:
Wow, the Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust Sobremesa Brulee is a wonderful cigar. My stick had a great draw, a decent burn, and amazing flavors of sugar, roasted honey, and, occasionally, of citrus.
NOTE: I did find a transcript of an interview with Steve Saka. He said the Sobremesa Brulee does NOT have a sugar tip, but that the sweetness was natural and a byproduct of the fermentation process.
Because of its great construction, awesome flavors, and decent price point, the Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust Sobremesa Brulee provides a fun smoking experience and earns a CigarScore 5. I’m looking forward to smoking this cigar again!
