Initial Thoughts
Over here at CigarScore, we focus on cigars, not bourbon. However, when we get to smoke a cigar that’s been aged in bourbon barrels, we don’t shy away.
The Eagle Rare Special Release 2022 Toro is a limited edition cigar that I got from the Adventure Club in January of 2022. Besides a small hole in the wrapper leaf (not due to beetles), the cigar looks pretty good.
On the cold draw, the flavors were good, if only slightly sour. Once lit, the Eagle Rare cigar had light and citrusy notes. That said, within the first few minutes, I didn’t taste anything that would indicate that this cigar had aged in a bourbon barrel.
Is the Eagle Rare Special Release 2022 Toro worth $10? Is it going to earn a place among the best breakfast cigars to pair with coffee? Let’s find out.

Through the middle of the cigar, the flavors were good and the experience was mostly enjoyable. However, the hole in the wrapper that I mentioned at the top of the video did have a small impact on the draw.
Final Thoughts
While the Eagle Rare Special Release 2022 Toro wasn’t my favorite cigar to pair with coffee, I did quite enjoy it.
The draw, despite the hole, was pretty good. The burn was also good. And, I enjoyed the taste of this interesting and complex blend.
Had the wrapper been hole-free, this would’ve scored higher. But, the Eagle Rare Special Release 2022 Toro earns a CigarScore 4.
