Fratello Oro is exuberant in smoke and flavor nuances. The creaminess, dry fruit, and subtle pepper from the Dominican Ligero bounce right off the sweetness of the Cameroon binder.

    Initial Thoughts:
Very few cigar manufacturers fit my palate as close as Fratello Cigars. For the most part, every Fratello blend comes out great. So, for today’s cigar, the Fratello Oro in the corona vitola, I have high hopes.

Right off the bat, the Fratello Oro Corona has a great looking wrapper that reminds me of a toasted pancake or waffle. The wrapper’s aroma is almost sweet, like cake.

On the cold draw, the flavors were of citrus, and were perhaps a little sour. Once the cigar was lit, the draw was spot on, but the sour flavors still came through.

And, while Fratello Cigars has blends made at several different places, The Fratello Oro comes from the La Aurora factory in Nicaragua.

    CigarScore: 4
    Brand: Fratello
    Line: Oro
    Size: 5 1/2 x 47
    Cut: V-Cut
    Light: Torch

    Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut
    Binder: African Cameroon
    Filler: Columbia, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua
    Smoke Time: 49 minutes

Through the middle of the cigar, the draw was fantastic, the burn was even, the labels came off without any problems, so the construction is good. The flavors are of wood and leather with hints of spice that tingled my sinuses on the retrohale.

    Final Thoughts
Overall, the Fratello Oro Corona I reviewed had great construction. Great draw; great burn; virtually nothing to complain about regarding the build quality of this cigar.

However, the Oro is my least favorite cigar from Fratello. Where I normally really enjoy the blends from Fratello founder Omar de Frias, I don’t care for this smokey sour Oro.

But, personal flavor preferences aside, this is a pretty good cigar, so the Fratello Oro Corona earns a CigarScore 4.
