The Cinco de Cinco is a 2023 release from Joya De Nicaragua that features a Mexican San Andres wrapper. Each Cinco de Cinco (ie five of five) is “medium to full-bodied with deep, rich, earthy flavors and hints of cocoa and dark chocolate. Cinco de Cinco is made from ultra-prime vintage tobacco and features a Mexico San Andrés wrapper with Nicaraguan fillers and binders in a soft-pressed format.”

Initial Thoughts
Joya de Nicaragua means the “jewel” of Nicaragua, and they’ve been making cigars for years. In our experience, their cigars often come in at great price points, and they’re often quite good. But today’s cigar, the Joya de Nicaragua Cinco de Cinco is, I believe, one of their most expensive cigars, and a departure from their value-for-the-dollar brand.
The Joya de Nicaragua Cinco de Cinco Corona Extra I reviewed was a pretty good-looking cigar. The Mexican San Andres wrapper was well-press with some distinct texturing to it. Another distinction to this cigar is the pigtail end.
On the cold draw, the flavors were dry and leafy. But, once the torch kissed the foot, the aroma of the burning tobacco was immediately intoxicating. The first puffs on the Cinco de Cinco were spicy and sweet.
With some nice complexity and flavor changes in the first third, the Joya de Nicaragua Cinco de Cinco is off to a good start. But, is it worth nearly $18? Does it deserve to be one of the most expensive cigars from JdN? Let’s find out.

Final Thoughts
The Joya de Nicaragua Cinco de Cinco Corona Extra is one of the most complex cigars I’ve smoked in a long time, perhaps ever. If you told me that Cinco de Cinco meant “five out of five” I’d think you were saying that if you smoked the entire cigar, you’d experience five out of the five flavor changes. Once spice wouldn’t be like another spice. One sweetness would be different from another type of sweetness, all within the same cigar.
I found this cigar to not only be interesting but entirely enjoyable. I think the Cinco de Cinco is one everyone should try at least once, just to see how complex and different a cigar can be from the beginning to the end. The Joya de Nicaragua Cinco de Cinco Corona Extra earns a CigarScore 5.
