Description
Meet the ALL NEW Kafie 1901 San Andres! Now made at the prestigious La Aurora factory in the Dominican Republic. The Kafie 1901 San Andres cigar was a hit since inception. Launched in the Spring of 2016, this cigar has developed a following of its own. Originally it came as a box pressed presentation, now it is featured in parejo in order to pack more flavor and allow for a longer burn. The cigar features a 5 years aged Mexican San Andres wrapper that is double fermented to ensure bold flavors, with a clean finish. The flavors are full, with notes of coffee, cocoa, molasses, and a beautifully sharp and clean strength on the retrohale. White better notes, and very forward on the palate. Really allows your taste buds to kick into a whole new level. This is a cigar that was nominated Best Brand Honduras in 2020 by Cigar Journal Magazine. Now it's being made under the supervision of the best team at La Aurora Cigar Factory.

Initial Thoughts:
Sometimes you get right in there and start smelling a cigar. Other times, like with today’s cigar, the Kafie 1901 San Andres Six Forty Two, it’s got such a fragrant aroma that you smell it, easily, without even trying.
The aroma of the Kafie 1901 San Andres Six Forty Two is the first thing I noticed about it. Just after it left the cellophane, the Kafie cigar started sharing its interesting smell with the world.
After cutting the end, the cold draw gave up flavors that had hints of cinnamon.
Once the cigar was lit, I had a great draw. The on-fire flavors were leafy, spicy, and rich. However, the Kafie 1901 San Andres Six Forty Two has tobacco from five different countries in it. When I found that out, I became very skeptical because that normally means no single flavor will stand out and cigars that try to be too complex are normally fairly bland and uninteresting.
Through the first few minutes, the cigar was quite delicious. The flavors were creamy, but with spiciness on the retrohale.

Through the middle of the cigar, I was very impressed. Where other blenders have failed, I think Kafie, with this Kafie 1901 San Andres Six Forty Two, has succeeded. The flavors are complex, and both sweet and spicy.
Final Thoughts
Where other cigar manufacturers have failed, Gaby Kafie has succeeded. The Kafie 1901 San Andres Six Forty Two was not bland and it didn’t taste like all of the ingredients were mixed together into a mush of mediocrity.
This cigar offered distinct flavors that were both spicy and sweet. The construction was almost perfect.
I enjoyed this cigar and I would smoke it again, so the Kafie 1901 San Andres Six Forty Two earns a well-deserved CigarScore 5.
