Initial Thoughts:
When I opened my humidor this morning, I thought to myself, “I’ve got two of these Leaf by Oscar Connecticut Robustos, I should probably smoke one.” So, here I am, cautiously optimistic about a cigar I have mixed feelings about.
The first cigar from Oscar Valladares was the Oscar Habano Toro by Leaf. I did not care for it. However, I’ve also had the Oscar Valladares Super Fly Super Corona (review coming soon), and I really enjoyed it. So, ya; mixed feelings.
After lighting the cigar, I was greeted with subtle notes of spicey pepper that I had not expected. There’s also an undertone of smoothness from the Honduran tobaccos that are almost reminiscent of Dominican tobacco, but with hints of ginger.

Final Thoughts:
After smoking the Leaf by Oscar Connecticut Robusto for just over an hour, I have to say, I liked this cigar.
The flavors were rich and spicy, but not overwhelming. The burn was mostly perfect, though it got slightly uneven in the middle third. The cigar never became bitter and I could smoke it almost to the point of burning my fingers, two signs of a well-made, well-aged stick.
While I enjoyed the cigar and would smoke it again, I think there are some cigars in this price range and flavor profile that I enjoy better (see this cigar). Therefore, the Leaf by Oscar Connecticut Robusto earns a CigarScore 4.
