Initial Thoughts
The Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Demi is one of my favorite cigars in the past few years. So, when Montecristo decided to create the Edicion Diamante, a 2.0 version, a “Round 2” if you will, I was super interested and quite excited to give it a try. Like the original, the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Edicion Diamante comes in many vitolas, and today we’re reviewing the toro.
Visually, the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Edicion Diamante is similar to the original 1935 Anniversary, but with a couple of differences. Whereas the original’s label was black and gold, the Edicion Diamante sports a label that’s brown and gold and has a gold outline of a diamond on it.
On the cold draw, the flavors were of wood, wax, and construction paper. Weird. However, once lit, the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Edicion Diamante had a candy-like sweetness to it as well as some spiciness.
This cigar is almost $27, which puts it in the range of one of my favorite cigars. Is the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Edicion Diamante worth $26.62? Let’s find out.

Final Thoughts
The Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Edicion Diamante is a good cigar, but it’s quite a bit different from its predecessor and original 1935 Anniversary which was blended by AJ Fernandez. The Edicion Diamante could have been too, but I’ve not been able to confirm it. Personally, I don’t think the encore is as good as the O.G., but that’s just my personal palate preference.
The construction of this cigar was basically perfect. The draw was great and the flavors were mild and delicious. The first third starts stong and then mellows out in the second two-thirds.
Overall this is a great smoke that hits all the right points. The Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Edicion Diamante earns a CigarScore 5.
