Initial Thoughts: I don’t smoke a ton of Oliva cigars, but when I do, they’re normally pretty good. And this cigar, the Oliva Serie V Melanio is supposed to be one of their best.

The Oliva Serie V Melanio Churchill is a great looking cigar. The wrapper veins are smooth and small. However, I did notice that the stick I smoked was pretty light in weight – I hoped it wasn’t underfilled. Also, the Serie V Melanio was supposedly the Cigar of the Year in 2014. Will this stick live up to its reputation? Let’s find out!

    Final Thoughts:

For the most part, I really liked the Oliva Serie V Melanio Churchill. The flavors were complex and got better the longer I smoked it.

Had the Churchill come in at a few dollars less, this Melanio would’ve gotten a higher score, but the fact is, I’ve had better cigars that cost less. And, while it’s not quite fair to compare one cigar to another, we only have so much time in the day, and if we’re going to throw down $12-$15 and spend a couple of hours on a cigar, wouldn’t you want the best cigar possible?

Overall the Oliva Serie V Melanio Churchill was a good cigar. It was incredibly well made, I had no issues with the draw or burn, and I can tell this stick was rolled with care and attention to detail. A CigarScore of 4 for sure.
