Initial Thoughts: Like companies outside the industry, cigar brands get bought and sold all the time. Sometimes between families, sometimes between a family and a giant corporation.
Partagas is the latter. While they’re a company rich in Cuban history, the non-Cuban lineage joined with General Cigar Company in the late 1970s to begin making cigars for the United States market.
The Partagas Black Label Robusto Tubo is a great-looking, non-Cuban cigar with a very earthy aroma. On the cold draw, my senses were accosted by spice and strong smells of cedar.
Once I cut through the incredibly thick cap and wrapper leaf, and after lighting the Partagas Black Label Robusto Tubo on fire, the cigar delivered flavors that were quite rich.

Final Thoughts: While the middle of the cigar has a slightly uneven burn, the Partagas Black Label Robusto Tubo didn’t quit! It wasn’t until I was able to burn my fingers that the flavors tapered off and the cigar began to get hot.
Where the Partagas Black Label Robusto Tubo really shines is in the complexity and balance of the flavors. This cigar did a great job of matching the strength of the Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper with something milder and sweeter.
