The Perdomo 10th Anniversary Box-Pressed Maduro (previously the Champagne Noir) is a medium to full-bodied Nicaraguan “puro” blended with a dark, oily 6-year old Cuban-seed Nicaraguan wrapper that has been bourbon barrel-aged for an additional 14 months and is paired with 6-year old Cuban-seed Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos to create naturally sweet flavors with hints of dark cocoa and espresso on the finish.

    Initial Thoughts:
About a year ago, we reviewed the Perdomo Champagne Noir. And in the comments on YouTube, Nick Perdomo said they were changing the name of the cigar to the Perdomo 10th Anniversary Maduro, and that’s exactly what we’re smoking and reviewing today.

The Perdomo 10th Anniversary Maduro Epicure Toro is a great-looking cigar. It’s fairly dark and has a nice, moderately oily wrapper leaf keeping things together.

Once cut, the cold draw was woody, perhaps oak, maybe cedar, and the flavors were ok. After lighting it, the smell of the smoke was good. Paired with coffee, the flavors were quite woody and not very sweet, at least not in the beginning.

Through the first third the flavors were good (not great), the burn was uneven, and the draw could be a little better. We got off to a rocky start, but I kept an open mind.

    CigarScore: 4
    Brand: Perdomo
    Line: 10th Anniversary Maduro
    Size: 6 x 54 BP
    Cut: V-Cut
    Light: Torch

    Wrapper: Nicaragua (Cuban-Seed)
    Binder: Nicaragua (Cuban-Seed)
    Filler: Nicaragua (Cuban-Seed)
    Smoke Time: 70 minutes

    Final Thoughts:

In the final third, I broke one of my cardinal rules, and I pulled a stem out of the cigar. While I’d hoped that it would open up the draw, the leaf had a thicker stem than I expected and removing it altered both the flavors of the cigar and the smoke time.

Overall, the Perdomo 10th Anniversary Maduro Epicure Toro, was “pretty good” by every measure. The flavors were “pretty good,” the construction was “pretty good,” and the price and smoke times were also “pretty good.”

I would smoke this cigar again and I’d recommend it to you, so the Perdomo 10th Anniversary Maduro Epicure Toro earns a CigarScore 4.
