Description

The Plasencia Cosecha 149 is a great cigar. It marks the 149th harvest of tobacco, and unlike most Plasencia cigars, the Cosecha 149 is a Honduran puro. Plasencia Cosecha 149 is a rich, balanced puro and our first all-Honduran cigar. All the leaves were grown in the fertile Honduran regions of Olancho, the Jamastran Valley, and Talanga, acquiring a deep, well-fermented character while aging since being harvested in 2014. Plasencia Cosecha 149 is a full-bodied, medium- to full-strength cigar balanced by distinct notes of cream, dark chocolate, and a subtle yet earthy hint of cedar.

    Initial Thoughts:
Today we continue our series of blind cigar reviews, where our goal is to provide you with a totally objective, completely neutral review of a cigar. The Plasencia Cosecha 149 La Vega Robusto was a beautiful cigar. The wrapper leaf is dark and oily, and the cigar was visually appealing. Except for the cap that was kind of flopped on the end, the Plasencia Cosecha 149 looked great.

By the way, “cosecha” means “harvest” in Spanish. So, this cigar commemorates the 149th harvest from Plasencia.

With a v-cut, the draw was good. Pre-light, the cold draw had flavors of cedar. With the first puff, I felt like the Plasencia Cosecha 149 La Vega had a very expensive feel and taste to it. This cigar gave a first impression and it got off to a great start.

Though the middle of the cigar, the burn wasn’t razor-sharp, it was close. Also, the draw we alright, but I was still able to really taste the Plasencia Cosecha 149 La Vega Robusto.

At about the 40-minute mark, the cigar developed a burn issue due to moisture in a stem in the wrapper leaf.

Final Thoughts: Overall, the Plasencia Cosecha 149 La Vega Robusto was a good cigar. However, even after I had this cigar resting for over a month, there was still some extra moisture in the stem of the wrapper, and that caused a burn issue. Also, the flavors in the final third, while still good, weren’t as good as they were in the first two-thirds.

With that said, the flavors were mostly good, the burn was mostly good, the draw was mostly good. And this cigar had a good smoke time. The Plasencia Cosecha 149 La Vega Robusto earns a CigarScore 4.
