Initial Thoughts
Not to be confused with the Rocky Patel San Andreas, the Rocky Patel Flor de San Andres is something very different. While both have a Mexican San Andres wrapper, that’s about where the similarities end.
The Rocky Patel Flor de San Andres is a somewhat dry-looking cigar with a slight box-press to it. My review cigar seemed to also have a piece of wrapper leaf glued over a small hole or tear in the wrapper.
I cut the end with my guillotine, and the first draw was way loose. There was almost no resistance. Once lit, the flavors were of cocoa and a roasted chocolate, but it wasn’t super sweet like some San Andres leaves can be (ex. Partagas Valle Verde). After a few minutes, the flavors were of toasted cocoa, leaves, and leather.
Is the Rocky Patel Flor de San Andres Toro worth almost $10? Let’s smoke it and find out.

Final Thoughts
The Rocky Patel Flor de San Andres was just alright. While it smoked for 73 minutes, which is good given how loose the draw was, the flavors were just okay. It was leafy with hints of toasted cocoa, but it didn’t have the sweetness I normally associate with Mexican San Andres leaves.
Regarding the overall construction, the Flor de San Andres was actually pretty good. Despite the loose draw in the beginning, I was able to get great smoke output. The burn was also mostly even.
Even though I think there are better expressions of the sweet Mexican San Andres leaf out there, that’s my personal opinion and preference. This is a good cigar at a good price with good flavors. The Rocky Patel Flor de San Andres earns a CigarScore 4.
