Initial Thoughts:
One of my favorite cigars over the last 20 years has been the Rocky Patel Edge Sumatra. For almost 10 years, before starting the CigarScore brand, I smoked that cigar almost exclusively. And, to celebrate my enthusiasm and dedication, Rocky decided to release the all-new Rocky Patel The Edge 20th Anniversary, and we’re going to review the toro.
While there are a few different blends in the Edge line, the Rocky Patel The Edge 20th Anniversary features a beautifully smooth Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. While the Edge 20th has a footband like the regular Edge, the primary label is the newer, much fancier label that the RP brand has moved to with their more premium cigars.
On the cold draw, the flavors were slightly chemical-esque, but also of rose petals. However, I’ve learned to not judge a cigar before lighting it.
The regular Edge is just over $9. The Rocky Patel The Edge 20th Anniversary is almost $14. Is it worth it? Is it that much better? Let’s smoke it and find out.

Final Thoughts
I got to smoke the Rocky Patel The Edge 20th Anniversary toro for about 68 minutes. Not very long for a toro, but that was probably due to me smoking the first third as fast as I could suck it down. Super enjoyable cigars tend to have that effect on me if I’m not paying close attention to what I’m doing.
Through most of the cigar, the burn, draw, and overall construction of this cigar were about perfect. In the final third, the Edge 20th Anniversary did get a little warm. Regarding the flavors, one of the most distinctive characteristics is the floral notes you’ll find in this cigar.
I loved this cigar. At the time I recorded this review, I’d smoked 4-5 of these, and since then I’ve smoked more than half a box. Rocky knocked it out of the park with this blend and I highly recommend it. The Rocky Patel The Edge 20th Anniversary earns a CigarScore 5.
